The University of Hawaii at Hilo split an NCAA Division II West Region doubleheader with Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, Calif. falling in the first game 10-3 and rebounding for a 6-2 victory in the second game. The Vulcans are 23-10 overall while the Warriors are 6-21-1.

The Kamehameha Warriors had a big first inning racking up six runs but were held scoreless the rest of the game as the Keaau Cougars scored two runs in the third and brought home seven in the seventh inning to win 9-6 in BIIF baseball action.

Governor Linda Lingle announced today that the Department of Transportation Airports Division successfully sold $644.98 million of revenue bonds to fund various capital projects for the State’s Airports Modernization Plan and to refinance existing debt to provide significant savings to airports statewide.

Big Island police are investigating the theft of a laptop computer at Kealakehe High School. The Toshiba NB200 Mini Notebook computer valued at $417 was removed from a computer classroom on February 9 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The state of Hawai‘i has the highest TB case rate in the nation. In 2009, the rate was 9.1 cases for every 100,000 people. There were 118 new cases of active TB disease in Hawai‘i reported to DOH, with O‘ahu reporting the highest number of TB cases in the state.

A failure in the receiver’s internal components can cause connected loudspeakers to overheat and cause a fire, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The firm has received reports of three incidents of connected loudspeakers overheating. No injuries have been reported.
