Federal inmate in Honolulu sentenced to eight years in prison for assault resulting in serious bodily injury

A federal inmate, Taloa Latu, 29, was sentenced today to 8 years of imprisonment for committing an assault resulting in serious bodily injury to another inmate. Following his incarceration, Latu will be on supervised release for 3 years.

Police DUI stats for the week of February 18-25, 2019

During the week of February 18, 2019, through February 25, 2019, Hawaiʻi Island Police arrested thirty, (30), motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Two of the drivers were under the age of 21.

Average gas prices in Hawaii fall 1.3 cents per gallon the past week

Gasoline prices in Hawaii have fallen 1.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.51/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 355 stations in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has increased 6.1 cents per gallon versus last week to $2.39/g, according to GasBuddy.
