Federal inmate in Honolulu sentenced to eight years in prison for assault resulting in serious bodily injury

A federal inmate, Taloa Latu, 29, was sentenced today to 8 years of imprisonment for committing an assault resulting in serious bodily injury to another inmate. Following his incarceration, Latu will be on supervised release for 3 years.

Honolulu man receives 57 month prison sentence for bogus Stevie Wonder concert for UH

U.S. District Court Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi sentenced Marc Hubbard, age 50, to 57 months in prison today for defrauding the University of Hawaii in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1343. Hubbard pled guilty to the offense on October 4, 2016.

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating an incident reported in South Kohala on Tuesday (December 5) by a local vehicle tow company.

At about 9:40 a.m. the tow company reported receiving a phone call from an individual about a car in the company’s possession. After taking a closer look, the owner of the tow company became very concerned about a device resembling a “pipe bomb” affixed to the front of the vehicle.
