Three Ocean View residents have been charged with burglary and other offenses in connection with a break-in at a business establishment in Kaʻū earlier this month. On February 4, Kaʻū officers responded to a burglary at an electronics store on Prince Kuhio Boulevard in Ocean View.

Foodland in Waimea evacuated due to training grenade found with produce Saturday

On February 16 at approximately 8:18 a.m., South Kohala patrol officers responded to the Foodland Stores market in Kamuela on a report of a grenade that was found to be within the produce section of the store. The store was subsequently closed and evacuated for safety reasons.

High winds lead to power outages, HELCO advises customers as winds continue

High winds impacted HELCO’s system this week, causing trees, branches and other objects to contact power lines. Various areas of the Big Island has been affected, including Waikoloa, Kawaihae, Lalamilo, Ahualoa, Kukuihaele, Papaaloa, Puna, and other locations.
