Big Island police are renewing their request for witnesses to a robbery at a fast food restaurant in downtown Hilo on March 6. Sometime between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., three unknown men tried to remove the wallet from a 57-year-old Hilo man in the parking lot of the new McDonalds restaurant on Kino’ole Street.

Tuesday evening (May 24), detectives charged 28-year-old Paul Matthew Borowski and 30-year-old Keaka Daniel Kaneala Martin with first-degree robbery and alteration of identification marks prohibited (a firearms offense). Borowski was also charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony.

Big Island police are investigating a robbery in Hilo early Wednesday (March 9). A 56-year-old Hilo man was approached by three men on Banyan Drive near Lihiwai Street at 2 a.m. They assaulted him and removed his backpack and wallet. Fire/rescue personnel took the victim to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
