Police investigating Hilo robbery early Wednesday (March 9)

Big Island police are investigating a robbery in Hilo early Wednesday (March 9).

A 56-year-old Hilo man was approached by three men on Banyan Drive near Lihiwai Street at 2 a.m. They assaulted him and removed his backpack and wallet.

Fire/rescue personnel took the victim to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Police ask that anyone with information about this case call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
