He is described as Caucasian, 6 ft. in height, 145 pounds with short brown hair, fair complexion, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing dark colored sweatpants.

During the week of November 27, 2017, through December 3, 2017, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 23 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Eight of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident.

So far this year, there have been 1,070 DUI arrests compared with 1,014 during the same period last year, an increase of 5.5 percent.

Hawaiʻi Island police have initiated a Coroner’s Inquest in connection with the discovery of a body along the coastline of Hilo Bay.

At 1:39 p.m., Friday afternoon, (December 1), police and fire personnel responded to the 26-200 block of the Hawaiʻi Belt Road, (Highway 19), in Wainaku for a report of a body found along the shoreline, located approximately 35-feet down a cliff line. The body had to be airlifted out of the area by the fire department’s helicopter.

A 37-year-old Papaaloa woman died following a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, (December 2), in Paauilo. She was identified as Lori Ann Sato.

Responding to a 3:58 p.m., call, police determined that a 2004 Honda sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 19, near the 34-mile marker, overtaking a vehicle in a no passing zone and was broadsided by a 1999 Toyota pickup that was traveling southbound.
