DLNR announces hunting permits for goats and sheep at Kaohe GMA

Kaohe Game Management Area (GMA) is an archery unit for game mammals with no bag limit for sheep and goats. To increase public harvest efficiency of feral goats and sheep, DLNR’s Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is allowing the use of muzzleloaders for licensed hunters by permit.

High surf advisory for West Hawaii

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has continued the high surf advisory for West facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Saturday. Surf is forecast to be in the six to 10 foot range peaking today then gradually lowering late tonight.

Search for missing diver off Honaunau resumes without success Friday (Feb 1)

The search continued Friday (Feb 1) for a missing diver off the coast of Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park. The missing diver was last seen on Wednesday (Jan 30) at the park at about 4 p.m. The man’s keys, wallet and cellphone were found in his truck at the park.

Police traffic investigators have identified a 45-year-old Captain Cook man who died Monday (January 28) in a motor vehicle/motorcycle collision on Route 11, south of the 109-mile-marker in South Kona. The motorcyclist was identified as Dennis B. Huber of a Captain Cook address.
