Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for a 50-year-old man wanted for an armed burglary. At 7:45 p.m. Friday (August 7), a man identified as William Chase of Kurtistown went to a home on Uau Road in Kurtistown and reportedly brandished a firearm at the 19-year-old male acquaintance who answered the door.

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help with information about a burglary in February in the Sunrise Ridge subdivision in Hilo.

At 1:30 p.m. on February 2, police responded to a report of a burglary that happened on Hoʻokina Place.

Police learned that a safe containing 12 rifles, three handguns, miscellaneous jewelry and a large amount of cash had been removed from the house. Value of the items is estimated at $22,500.

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a suspected burglary and arson at a Puna business that resulted in approximately $20,000 in property damage.

Puna Patrol Officers responded to a 2:15 a.m. call Thursday (May 21) reporting a structure fire at Verna’s Drive-In just off Highway 11 in the Mountain View area. Arriving officers found the front door open and a small fire burning inside.
