MEDIA RELEASE

Keaau Youth Business Center announces a new round of After-School training classes starting in April.

These 7-week to 8-week classes are hands-on and students aged 13-19 years old will have the opportunity to train with professionals in the field and participate in “real world” projects which serve the community and develop skills for the 21st century.

Starting Monday April 2, vocal artist and sound engineer Damon Williams will run a 7-weekly “Sound Recording/Music Production” class from 3-5 p.m. Learn the art of music production and pop, island, hip-hop, rock, and alternative music making in KYBC’s professional studio.

Topics such as recording, editing, mixing, and mastering will be covered. Students are encouraged to bring their original material for the recording sessions. Fee is $40/person.

Also starting April 2, Chef Extraordinaire Jon Aynessazian will be offering an “Ohana Culinary Arts” class 4-6 p.m. High school students interested in the culinary arts? Bring your moms, dads, aunties, uncles, or tutus and learn to cook with your ohana.

No matter what your experience level is, you can prepare foods that are easy, yummy and healthy. Other kitchen basics will be covered as well. A team of two can sign up for this 8-weekly class for $50, with cooking ingredients included in this fee.

On Wednesday April 4 starts a “Story in Pictures: Creating the Graphic Novel” class, 3-5 p.m. Illustrator and author Diane Thornton will help you create your own mini graphic novel; no prior drawing experience is required.

Learn drawing basics, language of comics, story sequence, composition, character development, and much more. Basic Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skills may be covered as well. Fee for this 8-weekly class is $40/student.
