In celebration of National Library Week 2010 (April 11-17), Martin “Uncle Marty” Wisner will present “Slot Car Racing,” a free program at Pahala Public & School Library on Thursday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in the Children’s Room.

Join “Uncle Marty” for an exciting slot car racing event. A slot car is a powered miniature racing auto or other vehicle that is guided by grooves or “slots” in the track on which it runs.

See who can steer a slot car to make the most laps in three minutes! This two-hour program is suitable for all ages.

National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries and librarians, and discover how “Communities thrive @ your library,” this year’s theme chosen by the American Library Association. Public libraries statewide will host free programs featuring storytellers, performers, artists, and a variety of culturally-enriching events throughout the month in celebration.

This program, as well as other National Library Week 2010 programs, are sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Marriott Resorts Hawaii, Ko Olina Resort & Marina, HMS Host, Meadow Gold Dairies, National Endowment for the Arts, State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the University of Hawaii-Manoa Outreach College-Statewide Cultural Extension Program, and local Friends chapters.
