On May 2, Hookena School crowned a new king and queen for its annual May Day program.
This year’s royalty included King Joseph Ikaika Medeiros and Queen Lucia Stith, both fifth-graders at Hookena School.

Waimea Country Schools’ Lei Day show honored the island’s paniolo heritage, while students danced Ka Paniolo Parker, Hawaiian Cowboy, Cowboy Hula, and Waiomina.
All students in the school participated, and the event was concluded with an ohana potluck lunch.
