Holualoa Music & Light Festival Saturday Dec 6!
The Holualoa Village Association kicks off the holiday season with the town’s 12th annual Music & Light Festival on Saturday, December 6th.
The celebration begins with the lighting of the town Christmas tree at the Holualoa Public Library at 6 p.m. along with the illumination of nearly two dozen village art galleries and shops.
As well as free refreshments at many of the businesses in town, there will be free music on two stages in Holualoa Village during the evening. The historic pink Kona Hotel will host John Keawe from 6-6:45 p.m. followed by Olga and Greg Shirley. The stage at the Holualoa Public Library will feature the Kona Celtic Connection and the harp and flute music of Manuel and Bernice Roberto. The popular a cappella group Hibiscus Jam will singing holiday tunes during the evening next to the Holualoa Post Office.
Santa and his Elf will cruise through Holualoa Village between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. in a convertible and then visit with the children next to the Holualoa Gallery until 8 p.m. There will be free goodies for the keiki from Santa courtesy of gallery owners Matt and Mary Lovein.
Food booths from Moulin Rouge French Crepes and the Lilikoi Inn will be selling visitors special treats and the Holuakoa Gardens restaurant will offer a complete dinner menu of locally grown entrees and produce between 6-8:30 p.m. Reservations recommended: 322-2233
The Living Hope Church will have even more entertainment for families between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., with two bouncers, craft and game booths, face painting, ping pong, free balloons, music, dancers, cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, lemonade and BBQ Hot dogs.
Mamalahoa Highway will be lined with ‘illuminaries’ through the village and there will be a reduced speed limit for the safety the hundreds of local families that attend the annual celebration of music and lights. There will be parking at the Holualoa School and next to the Library for early attendees.
