A 20-year-old Kea'au man reported that at about 1 a.m. Monday, he picked up a man in the area of highway 11 near the Shipman Industrial park entrance. He reported that after traveling south on Route 11 in a light green Honda, he turned into the Fern Acres subdivision in Puna and the male passenger attempted to carjack him. The victim said that while attempting to steal the vehicle, the suspect was injured and was last seen running into the bushes.
