This year marks four decades of Hawaii People’s Fund re-distributing community donations as grants to grassroots organizations.
Twice a year a panel of activists reviews proposals and jointly selects the grantees.
This spring, Hawaii People’s Fund has awarded more than $65,000 to nearly one dozen island groups using creative, innovative strategies in working for social justice in Hawaii.
Hawaii People’s Fund is a public foundation that raises money to collectively support grassroots organizations working for progressive social change throughout the islands. Support from Hawaii People’s Fund helps transform emerging ideas into successful initiatives.
Grants are made possible through individual donations, foundation support and donor advised funds.

* Hawaii Women in Filmmaking
* Ka Lei Maile Alii Hawaiian Civic Club
* Kauai LGBT Youth Council
* Maui Huliau Foundation
* Pride at Work Hawaii
* Q-Waves
* The Marion Kelly Preservation Ohana
* Youth Speaks Hawaii
Community-based groups working for social change are encouraged to review Updated guidelines and application form will be released in July. The next cycle of proposals will be due Sept. 4, 2012.
