It’s no trick! It’s a Christmas Box treat full of goodies for U.S. Marines!

The Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise project, “Operation Aloha Phase IV” will be shipping an estimated 200 care boxes to Afghanistan to the troops timed to arrive for Christmas.

This will be the single largest care box project to the military in Hawaii history according to the U.S. Post office. These Hawaii based Marines, many of whom served tours in Iraq as well, now face hardships we cannot begin to imagine.

The Charlie 3/3, known as “America’s Battalion,” are not even aware of the project. Club members intend to show them they will not forget the sacrifice and dedication they are making in serving their country.

These brave men and women will be deployed until May of 2012.

Begun in 2009, Operation Aloha Phases I-III have sent more than 500 Gift Boxes to our Hawaii based U.S. Marines.

This effort would not be possible if not for the active support of members of the Kealakehe High School Interact Club, as well as the people of Kona.

The final collection day for Phase IV is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Kailua-Kona Walmart.
