Four HPA swimmers teamed up to set a state record in the boys 200-yard medley relay event and also captured two other state relay titles.
The triple-threat team included Kaikea Nakachi, Logan Borowski, Kyle Katase and Ryan Ross. The new record is 1:35.70; the previous record was 1:35.97 set by Iolani School in 2009.
The same four swimmers teamed up to win the boys 200-yard freestyle relay title and also the boys 400-yard freestyle relay title.
Right behind them in the 200-yard event were the Kamehameha Schools Hawaii squad of Ryan Stack, Gary Akiona, Nicholas Leota and Evan Uy – tied for second in state with Iolani.
Also scooping state titles were:
* Kiana Yamashiro, Kamehameha Schools Hawaii – girls 200-yard freestyle
* Logan Borowski, HPA – boys 50-yard freestyle
* Kaikea Nakachi, HPA – boys 100-yard backstroke
* Madisyn Uekawa, Waiakea – girls 100-yard breaststroke
* Kyle Katase, HPA – boys 100-yard breaststroke
