Police arrest Puna man in connection with Mountain View shooting

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested a Puna man in connection with a shooting in Mountain View last month.

On June 28, a 30-year old Puna man reported that he was shot by a man identified as “Dennis” at the intersection of Ohia Street and Ulei/6th road in the Eden Roc Subdivision.

On Wednesday (July 16) Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section arrested the suspect, 58-year old Wayne Delossantos of Puna, on suspicion of attempted murder. He was held at the Hilo Police cellblock while detectives continued the investigation.

At 8:47 p.m. Wednesday, after conferring with prosecutors, detectives released Delossantos from the cellblock pending further investigation.
