Fire burns through Banjy’s restaurant in Waikoloa Village

Firefighters responded to a 6:16 a.m. alarm Monday (Feb 18) to a structure fire at Banjy’s Paradise Bar & Grill in Waikoloa Village. Crews broke into the locked front door and found a small fire in the kitchen area of the restaurant spreading to the walls and into the ceiling.

Strong, gusty trades prompt wind advisory

A wind advisory is in effect for Kona, Ka‘u, Kohala and Saddle Road area until 6 a.m. Tuesday (Feb 19). The advisory includes the towns of Kailua-Kona, Milolii, South Point, Pahala, Hilo, Volcano, Honokaa, Waimea, Waikoloa, Bradshaw airfield and Saddle Road above 5,000 feet.

Nature’s Variety became aware of a potential issue after receiving a consumer complaint about pieces of clear plastic may found in some bags. The source of the issue was identified and resolved. To date, there have been no reports of harm to dogs or cats.
