Coral reef disease hits Kaneohe Bay on Oahu

Scientists have discovered an outbreak of coral disease called Montipora White Syndrome in Kāneʿohe Bay, Oʿahu. The affected coral are of the species Montipora capitata, also known as rice coral.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a Flood Advisory for the Big Island until 1 p.m.

At 9:48 a.m. radar showed heavy rain along the Southeast coast of the Puna district moving slowly upslope towards Volcano, Mountain View and Glenwood. Other areas affected by the advisory are Kapoho and Hawaiian Beaches.
