The moon turns full tonight at 9:30 p.m. Sunday (Jan 8) over Hawaii. The King Kamehameha I statue stands in the moonlight in Hilo.

There are four well known statues of King Kamehameha I: The original King Kamehameha I statue is in Kapaau, Kohala which was originally commissioned for Honolulu but was lost at sea then recovered. The statue in Honolulu at the Judiciary building (the statue was a replacement for the original lost at sea). The statue in Hilo pictured above and a statue in the U.S. Capitol.

There is a fifth statue of separate design by Herb Kane which is displayed at the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui.
