Man rescued off Hawaiian Paradise Park Sunday (July 10)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:34 p.m. alarm Sunday (July 10) for a 22 year-old man floating face-down 100 meters offshore from Paradise Drive in Hawaiian Paradise Park in Puna.

Witnesses on the scene report that the man fell off a cliff and was trying to climb out when a wave knocked him back into the water prompting them to call 9-1-1 for help.

The man was rescued by Fire Department personnel, was treated and transported to Hilo Medical Center. It was not reported on the condition of the patient.
