The University of Hawaii at Hilo dropped a series opening doubleheader to Pacific West Confernce for Dixie State University, 9-1 and 8-4, on the Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah.

The Vulcans are 5-13 overal and 1-9 in the PacWest while the Red Storm is 14-9 overall and 8-6 in the PacWest.

A temporary agreement between the County and Oceanside 1250 Partners, the developer of Hokulia, will open the Hokulia bypass southbound from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for one week beginning Monday, March 22, through March 26.

The University of Hawai‘i’s 10 campuses will be officially closed to the public during the non-instructional days of March 22-25, 2010. The closure, which is the university’s normal spring break period, is in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and to recover energy savings to meet the budget shortfall.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo completed a Pacific West Conference series split with Dixie State College after today’s 9-7 win and 9-0 loss on the Karl Brooks Field in St. George, Utah.

The Vulcans are 21-8 overall and 17-7 in the PacWest while the Red Storm is 11-8 overall and 6-4 in the PacWest.
