MEDIA RELEASE
While it may be difficult to think about 2011 already, the Hawaii Island Humane Society has begun accepting entries for their 2011 Pets in Paradise Calendar and the June 1 deadline is not all that far away.
The calendar will feature two cover models plus twelve monthly pin-up pets. Every entry image is included somewhere in the professionally produced calendar.
To enter, log on to www.HIHS.org, click on “Calendar Entries” and download the entry form which includes complete instructions and helpful photo tips.
You may also call 329-1175 to request a form or stop by any Humane Society shelter in Kona, Waimea or Keaau to pick-up an application.
Entries are $15 each and there is no limit to the number of entries an individual may submit. Entry deadline is 4 p.m. June 1.
Images that feature the pet as the center of attention and images that showcase our Big Island paradise are encouraged. Any pet image may be submitted and could include, for example, dogs, cats, horses, birds, goats or fish.
The mission of the Hawaii Island Humane Society is to promote respect for all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the relationship between humans and animals.
HIHS holds a contract with the County of Hawaii to enforce certain animal-related laws and it offers 24-hour service for injured animals and other animal emergencies, humane education classes, low-cost spay and neuter services, lost and found assistance, microchipping and more.
