Road work on Palani Road near Grace Church, Thurs-Fri

Motorists are advised of possible delays and closures along Palani Road near Grace Church beginning February 12 while Oceanic Time Warner Cable and Hawaiian Telcom realign utility poles.

The Oceanic Time Warner Cable contractor will be working along Palani Road near the entrance to Grace Church from 9 am to 2 pm on February 12 and 13. Motorists should expect 5 to 10 minute delays. An off-duty officer will direct traffic. Please direct inquiries to (808) 329-2480 (TSI).

Hawaiian Telcom will close both lanes on Palani Road near the entrance to Grace Church from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. February 16-20 for pole realignment. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during this time, and direct inquiries about this work to Ann Nishida-Fry at Hawaiian Telcom.

Earlier this month, the Dept. of Public Works diverted motorists on to a new 1,400-foot detour road between Palihiolo and Kealaka’a streets. This allows road construction on Palani Road between Palihiolo Road and Kealaka’a. Palihiolo Road is closed to through traffic. Queen Liliuokalani residents are asked to use Konalani Street.

Public Works is asking motorists to drive 15 mph in areas where road work is occurring and to slow down when approaching the new detour. If possible, tractor-trailers and heavy duty construction vehicles are advised to use alternate routes. Sharp curves on the detour road may be difficult to maneuver.
