A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 has struck the south flank of Kilauea volcano at 11:33 a.m. Friday (May 4). There is no tsunami threat. Numerous aftershocks are being felt throughout the island.

KÄ«lauea Volcano’s summit lava lake level fluctuated, ranging about 100–133 feet below the vent rim. On the East Rift Zone, the 61g lava flow remained active downslope of Pu‘u ‘Ō‘Å, with scattered breakouts on the upper part of the flow field and on Pulama pali, but no ocean entry.
