Hiatt and DeWeese appointed to Hawaii Island as District Court Judges

Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald has today appointed Kenneth J. Shimozono to the District Family Court of the First Circuit and Kristine Y. Yoo to the District Court of the First Circuit. He has also appointed Mahilani E.K. Hiatt and Wendy M. DeWeese to the District Family Court of the Third Circuit.

Senate confirms Third Circuit Court judges for Hilo and Kona

In unanimous floor votes, members of the Hawai‘i State Senate today confirmed the appointments of Third Circuit District Family Court Judge Henry T. Nakamoto to the Circuit Court of the Third Circuit (Hilo) and attorney Robert D.S. Kim to the Circuit Court of the Third Circuit (Kona).

The Third Circuit has launched a program in Hilo called Hawaii’s Opportunity Probation with Enforcement, or HOPE Probation. Approximately 25 felony offenders at high risk of violating the terms of their probation will be placed in the program during the initial start-up period.

Prosecuting Attorney Jay T. Kimura announced today that on December 15, 2010, Third Circuit Court Judge Greg K. Nakamura rejected the request by Hilo resident Justin Kaaihue, 22, to defer his plea of guilty to attempted theft in the second degree and sentenced him for that offense.
