Motorists will soon begin seeing an increase in their State motor vehicle registration charges as the result of a new State law. The new law passed by the State Legislature this year increases State weight tax rates from .75 cents per pound to 1.75 cents per pound for vehicles that are 4,000 pounds or less.

Any taxpayer who experienced destruction or damage to their real property from the March 11 tsunami should file a claim for remission of real property taxes, Mayor Billy Kenoi announced. The deadline for filing this claim for tax relief is June 30, 2011, but taxpayers should file their claims as soon as possible.
