In observance of the 2017 Christmas season activities at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hilo, there will be a temporary one-way traffic pattern on Kapiʻolani Street. Traffic will be allowed only in the Puna, or southerly, direction on Kapiʻolani Street, between Waiānuenue Avenue and Haili Street during certain hours.

Varsity match St. Joseph’s 10 6 10 Hawaii Prep 25 25 25 (9 – 2) HPA seniors lead the way as Bridget Walker had 14 kills and Tayler Wang added 10 of her own. Hawaii Prep advances to the BIIF Division II semi-finals on Friday @ 3:30pm at Waiakea HS.

In BIIF girls volleyball it was a David versus Goliath match. Unlike the fairytale, the St. Joseph’s Lady Cardinals (David) were unable to defeat the stronger Waiakea Warriors (Goliath). The D-I Warriors made quick work by defeating the D-II Lady Cardinals in straight sets.

The game was filled with great plays by both teams as well as momentary defensive laps by each team. The Cardinals came out strong in the first game defeating the Daggers. However, Pahoa came back strong.

Both Christian Liberty Academy and St. Joseph’s are in a rebuilding year, having each lost the majority of their starters. Both teams desparately needed their first win for the season, and that desparation translated into a very exciting game for the fans tonight.
