On Saturday (April 9), runners and walkers will be on the road in Keaau approximately 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. On Sunday (April 10), participants will be on the road between approximately 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. in Kona for the 2011 Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run/Walk for Special Olympics.

Special Olympics West Hawaii athletes, unified partners and volunteers interested in learning or competing in bocce ball should attend the sport’s first practice, from 3:15 to 5 p.m. June 8 at Pualani Estates park. This ancient game, dating back to the Roman Empire, closely resembles bowling. It requires skill, strategy and a little luck.
