The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Hawai’i Island effective today through this evening
 
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that may lead to flash flooding. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea from 6 p.m. tonight (Dec 19) through 6 a.m. Tuesday (Dec 21).

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for all Hawaiian Islands through late Sunday (Dec 19). A flash flood watch means that weather conditions may develop that leads to flash flooding.

Friday morning dawn revealed a blanket of white atop Mauna Kea. One to two feet of fresh snow blanketed the summit, a present from Poli'ahu deposited during the night. The storm and the fresh snowfall immediately becomes the subject of conversation around town, one question to be asked... "Is the road open?"
