Punaluu Beach Park reopens after shark sighting yesterday

This is a Civil Defense Shark Sighting Update for at 8 a.m., Saturday (March 4). The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) reports Punaluu Beach Park in Ka‘u, which was closed yesterday due to a shark sighting, is reopened today. Have a safe day. Punaluu Beach Park closed to swimmers due to shark sighting

Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) reports Punaluu Beach Park in Ka‘u is currently closed due to an 8 foot shark sighting in the area. The public is advised to stay out of the water at Punaluu Beach until HFD Ocean Safety conducts a reassessment tomorrow morning (March 4) and determines if conditions have changed.

Laaloa Beach Park reopens after shark sighting

Hawaii 24/7 Staff Laaloa Beach Park, also known as White Sands, was closed Thursday after a shark sighting. A county helicopter flight over the beach confirmed a shark was i the area.
