Police arrest and charge two in Kona for drug offenses

On, (November 28), at approximately 4:00 p.m., Kona Police served a search warrant at an apartment located on Pawai Place in the Kona Industrial Area. Upon executing the warrant, a Special Enforcement Unit recovered marijuana, meth, heroin, illegal pills, and drug paraphernalia.

During the week of November 20, 2017, through November 26, 2017, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 20 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Five of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 1,046 DUI arrests compared with 988 during the same period last year, an increase of 5.9 percent.

Pahoa man stabbed in road rage incident Wednesday (Nov 22)

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a stabbing in connection with a road rage incident. At 3:29 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, (November 22), a 25-year-old Pāhoa man told police he was stabbed in the chest by the driver of a light-colored sedan following an argument on Moho Road, (Road 8), in the Hawaiian Acres Subdivision.

Hawai’i Island police have located a 51-year-old man, who was reported missing.

On Sunday, (November 19), at approximately 6 p.m., officers responded to the area of the Old Kona Airport Beach in Kailua-Kona for a report of a missing person.
