Hawaii Public Radio HPR-2 channel to begin East Hawaii broadcasts Wednesday (Oct 26)

HawaiÊ»i Public Radio announces the launch of its HPR-2 channel on 91.3FM on the east side of HawaiÊ»i island. The estimated sign-on date is Wednesday, October 26, after 12 noon. This marks the completion of the nonprofit station’s long-held goal of a radio network spanning the major Hawaiian islands with both of its programming streams.

Two Big Island men have been charged with felonies after an illegal weapon was offered for sale online. Undercover police officers responded to an ad offering a firearm for sale and were informed by the seller that the weapon was a sawed-off shotgun. The undercover officers arranged for a meeting with the seller.

Morning 4.5 magnitude quake in North Hawaii felt islandwide and on Maui

An earthquake of 4.5 magnitude struck North Hawaii at 6:24 a.m. Thursday (Aug 7). There were no reports of damage. According to the USGS website the quake was felt islandwide with reports from Waimea, Honokaa, Kona, Hilo, Kahuku and four reports from Maui.
