The Hilo Motor Vehicle Registration, Driver License and Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection offices will not open on Thursday May 20 until 9 a.m. (closed 7:45 a.m. -9 a.m.) so that staff can attend training. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. All of our other offices will remain open at their regularly scheduled times. Thank you for understanding as we continue to improve services to the County of Hawai’i.

Currently the Motor Vehicle and Driver’s License offices across the island are closed. This is due to a Fiber Optic Cable problem originating from Oahu. Currently State Workers on Oahu that repair issues with fiber optic communications to the neighbor islands are diligently working on this issue. The Vehicle Registration and Driver’s Licensing Division are sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.
