Lt. Governor James R. “Duke” Aiona, Jr. today announced that the State will provide more than $8.3 million to the four counties to reduce and prevent underage drinking in Hawai‘i.

Through a 2006 federal grant, the state committed $10.45 million over five years to address the public health concern of underage drinking.

A powerful storm system passing far north of the Hawaiian Islands has generated a large open ocean swell...which is expected to reach the Hawaiian waters later tonight. This northwest swell is forecast to rise rapidly...first near Kauai and Niihau...and then quickly spread southeast down the island chain. The swell will likely peak on Wednesday...with open ocean swell heights near 14 feet...before gradually diminishing Thursday and Friday.
