High surf warning in effect for east facing shores of Hawaii Island and Maui

Large surf via an east-southeast swell generated by Hurricane Hilda will continue along east facing shores of Hawaii Island and east Maui through tonight. Surf is forecast to be in the 10-15 foot range.

Big Island and Maui public libraries close Thursday due to Hurricane Iselle

Police locate Maui woman reported missing

Hawaiʻi Island police have located 28-year-old Halley Leah Ries of Maui, who was reported missing. Ries and her two children were found unharmed in Kalapana at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday (June 17).
