Hawai‘i Electric Light has restored electric service to the remaining 20 customers in Paauilo-Mauka who were affected by high winds from Tropical Storm Madeline. Crews have been working since Wednesday to repair damage to utility poles and power lines caused primarily by fallen trees and branches.

Nearly 200 residents stayed overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug 30-31) at the 14 Big Island evacuation shelters that were opened by the Hawaii County Civil Defense in partnership with the Hawaii Red Cross. All shelters are currently closed.
