Police have identified through fingerprints the identity of the female adult victim. She was identified as being Aracely Hoffman, formerly known as Aracely Monroy Urruela, 40-years-old, of Leilani Estates. Documents located at the residence reveal that Aracely married John Hoffman in March 2008.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 12:06 p.m. alarm Wednesday (June 22) near the intersection of Kahukai Street and Moku Street in Leilani Estates for a man who fell in a lava tube.

The 63 year-old man had been surveying his property when he fell approximately 40 feet into the three foot wide lava tube.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 6:46 p.m. alarm Tuesday (June 14) to a structure fire in Leilani Estates in Puna.

Upon arrival crews found a two-story home engulfed in flames and partially collapsed on Kahukai Street between Leilani Avenue and Mohala. Firefighters cut a lock on a gate to access the property and had the fire under control by 7:15 p.m. with the fire declared out at 10:30 p.m.

Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) management employees faced several weather-related challenges as rains hit the island over the weekend.

On Saturday, a lightning strike in Ocean View Estates damaged a transformer. Employees replaced the transformer and restored power by 7:30p.m. A handful of customers were affected.
