Fire/rescue crews responded to an 11:26 a.m. alarm Thursday (April 21) for an injured hiker above Waipio Valley near Hiilawe Waterfall on the Southwest rim. A 42 year-old man slipped and fell at or near Lalakea Stream/Waterfall causing moderate injuries according to a fire dispatch report. Ground personnel and both fire department helicopters responded to search for the injured hiker.
