The lockdown at Kulani Correctional Facility in Hilo was lifted late this morning. All operations are back to normal. Families who had their visits cancelled today should call the facility to reschedule for tomorrow (Sunday 3/8/15).

Kulani Correctional Facility visits have been cancelled due to the current lockdown and on-going investigation into Friday’s inmate disturbance at the facility. At approximately 6:50 p.m. Friday (march 6) an inmate at the Kulani Correctional Facility refused to go into his dorm. Other inmates came out to see what was happening.
