Wind Advisory issued for Kohala District Thursday (Jan 31)

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Districts of North and South Kohala on Hawaii Island. This Wind Advisory means sustained winds of 20-35 mph with gusts over 50 mph are forecasted.

Police arrest and charge three in Kohala drug bust

Three North Kohala residents were arrested and charged with a variety of narcotics and weapons offenses. On Wednesday (January 23) officers from the Area II Vice section, Area II Special Enforcement Unit and North Kohala Patrol and Community Policing sections served a search warrant at a residence in the 53-4000 block of Akoni Pule Highway.

Police identify man killed in Kohala Mountain Road crash Thursday (Dec 20)

A 27-year-old North Kohala man died following a two-vehicle collision on Thursday, (December 20), in Waimea on Kohala Mountain Road, (Highway 250), near the 4.5-mile marker. The 27-year-old male has been positively identified as Anson Guitang of Kapaau.

Utah hikers rescued from Pololu Valley area after being stranded by high tide

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 12:58 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Dec 4) to Pololu Valley for hikers stranded on the shoreline. Two hikers, a 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man from Utah, had gotten stranded on the rocky shoreline between Pololu and Honokane Valleys when the rising tide cut-off their path out.

Fallen Pine Tree causes power interruption for North Kohala
