Kona man charged with kidnapping and other offenses

A Kona man has been charged with kidnapping and other offenses in connection with a robbery last week in Kailua-Kona. On February 17, Kona patrol officers responded to an apartment on the 75-5000 block of Lamaokeola Street in Kailua-Kona to a reported robbery.

Hawaii County Police detectives have charged 21-year-old Angelea Maldonado of Kailua-Kona with shoplifting. She was released pending further investigation of the other offenses and after posting $250 bail on the shoplifting offense. On the same day, detectives charged Dane Frank Kendrick with shoplifting, first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping, and third-degree promoting a dangerous drug.

Two men charged for multiple crimes including kidnapping and assault

Big Island police have located and charged Waylen Keone Carenio Jr. and Turner Kaimana Au, who were being sought in connection with a late-night assault in a car in front of a Kamehameha Avenue restaurant in Hilo on February 1. Carenio was also wanted on a bench warrant for a Grand Jury indictment.

Man arrested for attempted kidnapping and sex assault of girl is released

Police released the suspect arrested on Tuesday (September 20) in connection with a reported attempted kidnapping and attempted sexual assault on that day. Samson Perez, also known as Samson Kahumoku was released from police custody after detectives conferred with county prosecutors.

After conferring with prosecutors, Big Island police have released three juveniles pending further investigation of an incident in Na’alehu involving a car theft. Detectives from the Area II Juvenile Aid Section are continuing the investigation.
