Military convoys from Kawaihae to Pohakuloa, beginning Saturday (Oct 17)

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and between 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., Oct. 17-24. Convoys will use Akoni Pule Corridor, Queen Kaahumanu, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area, Oct. 10 between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Oct. 11-13 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Convoys will use Akoni Pule Corridor, Queen Kaahumanu, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.

Military convoys from Kawaihae to Pohakuloa, beginning Saturday (Aug 8)

Oahu-based service members are scheduled to convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area, Aug. 8-12, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. PTA will not be open to hunting this weekend (Aug 8-9) due to scheduled military training and range maintenance.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:06 p.m. alarm Tuesday (April 14) to a brushfire between the 64 and 65 mile markers of Kawaihae Road (Hwy 19).

Crews arrived to find a five acre fire burning brush and grass on the Waikoloa side of Kawaihae Road with winds blowing from the west at 10-15 mph. One lane was closed to traffic as firefighting units were at the scene. The fire burned eight acres and was declared under control at 4:17 p.m.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is alerting residents and motorists of a single-lane road closure along Kawaihae Road at the South Kohala Distribution Road intersection beginning Tuesday, Feb. 17 through Thursday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility installations.
