Water to be shut-off along Kawaihae Road February 7 & 8, 2013

Water will be temporarily turned off in the Kawaihae Road area on Thursday, February 7, 2013 and Friday, February 8, 2013, between the hours of 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., to install a new waterline connection for the new Waimea Longs Drug Store.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:46 p.m. alarm Monday (Aug 20) to Kawaihae Road near the 61 mile marker for a crash between a semi-truck and a compact sedan.

The driver of the semi-truck was able to get out of his vehicle while the compact sedan driver was trapped in his car with multiple injuries.

Big Island police are warning the public to beware of potentially dangerous prescription drugs that were stolen in a pharmacy robbery and have not been legally dispensed.

South Kohala patrol units were dispatched to a pharmacy on Kawaihae Road on Friday (May 21) in response to a reported robbery involving a man armed with a knife. The man reportedly entered the pharmacy and demanded Fentynyl and Oxycontin. After the pharmacist told him that the establishment did not carry those drugs, the suspect opened a drawer and removed numerous controlled substances.
