USPS Na Pali Coast Forever Stamp

Na Pali Coast stamp to be dedicated at Hanalei Post Office on August 16, 2018

The U.S. Postal Service will commemorate the issuance of a Forever stamp depicting Kauai’s iconic Na Pali coast at a special event at 10:45 a.m. on August 16 at the Hanalei Post Office, located at 5-5226 Kuhio Highway. This is the first-ever stamp dedication event held on the Garden Isle.

DLNR officers arrest man at Kauai beach killing Green Sea Turtle Wednesday (May 9)

DOCARE officers are still asking for help in identifying the person or persons who killed a turtle at Onekahakaha County Beach Park in South Hilo last weekend. This turtle was also spotted by witnesses floating belly-up in a cove at the park. Its two front flippers had been amputated.

Coast Guard searches for missing sailor from Oahu

The Coast Guard is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a mariner last seen departing Ala Wai boat harbor Thursday evening. Greg Stephanoff departed the Ala Wai boat harbor alone on his 42-foot Catalina Sloop, C:Drive, at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday. His destination was unknown and he has not been heard from since.

Wetland biologists and others involved in managing lands with associated wetlands have been notified by the Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) of a recent avian botulism outbreak affecting waterbirds on Maui. In just over a week, 67 birds have been found dead at Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary in Kahului including Hawaiian Stilt, Hawaiian Coot, and Hawaiian Ducks of adult and juvenile stages.

Kauai police arrest man wanted on Big Island warrants

Police have located 30-year-old Derek S.K. Fontes, who was wanted on two arrest warrants for violating probation and three bench warrants. Fontes, who is being featured this month on “HawaiÊ»i Island’s Most Wanted” was arrested by Kauai police on Kauai and charged with the five warrants after Big Island police received a Crime Stoppers tip.
