Leaning pole cuts power, interrupts traffic on Alii Drive

MEDIA RELEASE Hawaii Electric Company announced that at 9:01 a.m. Friday, approximately 2,950 customers in the Kahaluu area of Kona experienced a power outage due to a leaning pole on Alii Drive near Banyans. Hapuna, Kahaluu and Laaloa Beach Parks closed due to high surf

The Hawaii Fire Department Ocean Safety Division has reported increasing surf heights and run up at beaches in the West Hawaii areas of Kona and South Kohala. Due to the high surf, Laaloa, Kahaluu and Hapuna Beach Parks will be closed.
