Highway 190 re-opens after being closed Sunday afternoon (Aug 1) due to brushfire

Firefighters continue patrol the scene of a 500 acre wildland fire Tuesday (July 6) near the 27 mile marker of Highway 190 (Mamalahoa Highway) on the makai side of the roadway.

The fire is contained by firebreaks cut by bulldozers along with natural fire breaks in the landscape. Hotspots continue to burn well within the burn area with fire crews planning to extinguish those this morning.
