At 11 a.m. HST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Miriam was located near latitude 15.7 North, longitude 141.6 West about 930 miles (1,495 km) east-southeast from Hilo. A turn toward the north is expected later today.

At 5 p.m. HST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Miriam was located near latitude 14.4 North, longitude 140.6 West about 1,025 miles (1,650 km) east-southeast from Hilo. Miriam is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h). A turn toward the northwest with a decrease in forward speed is expected tonight.
