Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7 a.m. alarm Friday (Aug 31) to the Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve in the Volcano district for a missing hunter.

The 36 year-old man had entered the forest at 9 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug 29) to go pig hunting.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7 a.m. alarm Friday (Aug 31) to the Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve in the Volcano district for a missing hunter. The 36 year-old man had entered the forest at 9 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug 29) to go pig hunting.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:25 p.m. alarm Thursday (Sept 8) for a missing hunter located in the forested hunting area behind the Volcano transfer station.

The 56 year-old man wasn't familiar with the area and had gone off the trail. The man was located by the Fire Department's Chopper One and ground crews were able to walk with the man out of the forest.

There were no injuries reported and fire crews were back in quarters by 8:22 p.m.

Fire/rescue crews responded to an alarm shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday (Oct 27) for a hiker in distress along the Alili Springs Trail in Ka‘u.

A hunting party of four had been in a forested area with three men in the group being able to hike out. A fourth member was unable to hike out due to dehydration and difficult location.
